# §7481. Establishment: purpose


The [Secretary](/usc/10/7551.md?p=5) of the Army may maintain schools and camps for the military instruction and training of persons selected, upon their application, from [warrant officers](/usc/10/101.md?p=b-3) and [enlisted members](/usc/10/101.md?p=b-6) of the Army and civilians, to qualify them for appointment as [reserve](/usc/10/101.md?p=c-6) [officers](/usc/10/101.md?p=b-1), or enlistment as [reserve](/usc/10/101.md?p=c-6) noncommissioned officers, for service in the Army [Reserve](/usc/10/101.md?p=c-6).
