# §711a. American National Red Cross: detail of commissioned officers


[Commissioned officers](/usc/10/101.md?p=b-2) of the Army, Navy, and Air Force may be detailed for duty with the American National Red Cross, by the [Secretary](/usc/10/4951.md?p=3) of the [military](/usc/10/801.md?p=8) [department](/usc/10/101.md?p=a-6) concerned, as follows:

- (1) for duty with the Service to the [Armed Forces](/usc/10/101.md?p=a-4) Division—
  - (A) one or more [officers](/usc/10/101.md?p=b-1) of the Army Medical [Department](/usc/10/101.md?p=a-6);
  - (B) one or more [officers](/usc/10/101.md?p=b-1) of the Medical [Department](/usc/10/101.md?p=a-6) of the Navy; and
  - (C) one or more [officers](/usc/10/101.md?p=b-1) selected from among [medical officers](/usc/10/101.md?p=b-14), [dental officers](/usc/10/101.md?p=b-15), veterinary [officers](/usc/10/101.md?p=b-1), medical service [officers](/usc/10/101.md?p=b-1), nurses, and medical specialists of the Air Force; and
- (2) to be in charge of the first-aid [department](/usc/10/101.md?p=a-6)—
  - (A) an [officer](/usc/10/101.md?p=b-1) of the Medical Corps of the Army;
  - (B) an [officer](/usc/10/101.md?p=b-1) of the Medical Corps of the Navy; or
  - (C) a [medical officer](/usc/10/101.md?p=b-14) of the Air Force.
