# §7083. Public Affairs Specialty


There is a career field in the Army known as the Public Affairs Specialty. Members of the Army with the Public Affairs Specialty are—

- (1) the Chief of Public Affairs;
- (2) [commissioned officers](/usc/10/101.md?p=b-2) of the Army in the [grade](/usc/10/101.md?p=b-7) of major or above who are selected and specifically educated, trained, and experienced to perform as professional public affairs [officers](/usc/10/101.md?p=b-1) for the remainder of their careers; and
- (3) other members of the Army assigned to public affairs positions by the [Secretary](/usc/10/7551.md?p=5) of the Army.
