# §671a. Members: service extension during war


Unless terminated at an earlier date by the [Secretary concerned](/usc/10/2801.md?p=c-5), the period of [active service](/usc/10/101.md?p=d-3) of any member of an armed force is extended for the duration of any war in which the [United States](/usc/10/101.md?p=a-1) may be engaged and for six months thereafter.
