# §666. Reserve officers not on the active-duty list


The [Secretary](/usc/10/4951.md?p=3) of Defense shall establish personnel policies emphasizing education and experience in [joint matters](/usc/10/668.md?p=a-1) for [reserve](/usc/10/101.md?p=c-6) [officers](/usc/10/101.md?p=b-1) not on the [active-duty list](/usc/10/101.md?p=b-13). Such policies shall, to the extent practicable for the [reserve](/usc/10/101.md?p=c-6) [components](/usc/10/3011.md?p=13), be similar to the policies provided by this chapter.
