# §654. Minimum service requirement for certain cyberspace occupational specialties

- (a) **Cyberspace Operations Officer.—** The minimum service obligation for any member who successfully completes [training](/usc/10/301.md?p=9) in the [armed forces](/usc/10/101.md?p=a-4) in direct accession to the cyberspace operations [officer](/usc/10/101.md?p=b-1) occupational specialty of the Marine Corps shall be eight years.
- (b) **Service Obligation Defined.—** In this section, the term “service obligation” means the period of [active duty](/usc/10/101.md?p=d-1) or, in the case of a member of a [reserve](/usc/10/101.md?p=c-6) [component](/usc/10/3011.md?p=13) who completed cyberspace operations [training](/usc/10/301.md?p=9) in an [active duty](/usc/10/101.md?p=d-1) for [training](/usc/10/301.md?p=9) status as a member of a [reserve](/usc/10/101.md?p=c-6) [component](/usc/10/3011.md?p=13), the period of service in an [active status](/usc/10/101.md?p=d-4) in the Selected [Reserve](/usc/10/101.md?p=c-6), required to be served after completion of cyberspace operations [training](/usc/10/301.md?p=9).
