# §649g. Retirement: retirement for years of service; selective early retirement

- (a) **Retirement for Years of Services.—** Sections [633](/usc/10/633.md) through [636](/usc/10/636.md) of this title shall apply to the retirement of [officers](/usc/10/101.md?p=b-1) in competitive categories of [officers](/usc/10/101.md?p=b-1) designated for purposes of this subchapter.
- (b) **Selective Early Retirement.—** Sections [638](/usc/10/638.md) and [638a](/usc/10/638a.md) of this title shall apply to the retirement of [officers](/usc/10/101.md?p=b-1) described in [subsection (a)](#a).
