# §642. Entitlement of officers discharged or retired under this chapter to separation pay or retired pay

- (a) An [officer](/usc/10/101.md?p=b-1) who is discharged under this chapter is entitled, if eligible therefor, to separation [pay](/usc/10/101.md?p=a-15) under [section 1174 of this title](/usc/10/1174.md).
- (b) An [officer](/usc/10/101.md?p=b-1) who is retired under this chapter is entitled to retired [pay](/usc/10/101.md?p=a-15) computed under [chapter 71](/usc/10/chstA/ptII/ch71.md) of this title.
