# §6271. Definitions


In this subchapter:

- (1) The term “DOE national security authorization” means an authorization of appropriations for activities of the [Department](/usc/10/101.md?p=a-6) of Energy in carrying out [programs](/usc/10/2101.md?p=1) necessary for [national security](/usc/10/801.md?p=16).
- (2)
  - (A) Except as provided by [subparagraph (B)](#2-B), the term “minor construction threshold” means $30,000,000.
  - (B) The [Administrator](/usc/10/2700.md?p=3) may calculate the amount specified in [subparagraph (A)](#2-A) based on fiscal year 2022 constant dollars if the [Administrator](/usc/10/2700.md?p=3)—
    - (i) submits to the [congressional defense committees](/usc/10/101.md?p=a-16) a report on the method used by the [Administrator](/usc/10/2700.md?p=3) to calculate the adjustment;
    - (ii) a period of 30 days elapses following the date of such submission; and
    - (iii) publishes the adjusted amount in the Federal Register.
