# §6251. Executive management training in Department of Energy

- (a) **Establishment of Training Program.—** The [Secretary](/usc/10/4951.md?p=3) of Energy shall establish and implement a management [training](/usc/10/301.md?p=9) [program](/usc/10/2101.md?p=1) for personnel of the [Department](/usc/10/101.md?p=a-6) of Energy involved in the management of atomic energy defense activities.
- (b) **Training Provisions.—** The [training](/usc/10/301.md?p=9) [program](/usc/10/2101.md?p=1) shall at a minimum include instruction in the following areas:
  - (1) [Department](/usc/10/101.md?p=a-6) of Energy policy and procedures for management and operation of atomic energy defense [facilities](/usc/10/2700.md?p=2).
  - (2) Methods of evaluating technical performance.
  - (3) Federal and [State](/usc/10/4951.md?p=4) environmental laws and requirements for compliance with such environmental laws, including timely compliance with reporting requirements in such laws.
  - (4) The establishment of [program](/usc/10/2101.md?p=1) milestones and methods to evaluate success in meeting such milestones.
  - (5) Methods for conducting long-[range](/usc/10/101.md?p=f-1) technical and budget planning.
  - (6) Procedures for reviewing and applying innovative technology to defense environmental cleanup.
