# §2200e. Definitions


In this chapter:

- (1) The term “cyber” [includes](/usc/10/101.md?p=g-4) the following:
  - (A) Offensive [cyber](#1) operations.
  - (B) Defensive [cyber](#1) operations.
  - (C) [Department](/usc/10/101.md?p=a-6) of Defense information network operations and defense.
  - (D) Any other information technology that the [Secretary](/usc/10/4951.md?p=3) of Defense considers to be related to the [cyber](#1) activities of the [Department](/usc/10/101.md?p=a-6) of Defense.
- (2) The term “[institution of higher education](/usc/10/2199.md?p=2)” has the meaning given the term in section 101 of the Higher Education Act of 1965 ([20 U.S.C. 1001](/usc/20/1001.md)).
- (3) The term “Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Education” means an [institution of higher education](/usc/10/2199.md?p=2) that is designated by the Director of the [National Security](/usc/10/801.md?p=16) [Agency](/usc/10/3451.md?p=3) as a Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Education.
