# §2103. Eligibility for membership

- (a) To be eligible for membership in the [program](/usc/10/2101.md?p=1) a [person](/usc/10/2700.md?p=2) must be a student at an institution where a unit of the Senior [Reserve](/usc/10/101.md?p=c-6) [Officers](/usc/10/101.md?p=b-1)’ [Training](/usc/10/301.md?p=9) Corps is established. However, a student at an institution that does not have a unit of the Corps is eligible, if otherwise qualified, to be a member of a unit at another institution.
- (b) [Persons](/usc/10/2700.md?p=2) from foreign countries may be enrolled as members of the [program](/usc/10/2101.md?p=1) when their enrollment is approved by the [Secretary](/usc/10/4951.md?p=3) of the [military](/usc/10/801.md?p=8) [department](/usc/10/101.md?p=a-6) concerned under criteria approved by the Secretary of State.
- (c) A medical, dental, pharmacy, veterinary, or sciences allied to medicine, student may be admitted to a unit of the [program](/usc/10/2101.md?p=1) for a course of [training](/usc/10/301.md?p=9) consisting of 90 hours of instruction a year for four academic years.
- (d) Under such conditions as the [Secretary](/usc/10/4951.md?p=3) of the [military](/usc/10/801.md?p=8) [department](/usc/10/101.md?p=a-6) concerned may prescribe, a medical, dental, pharmacy, veterinary, or sciences allied to medicine, student who is a [commissioned officer](/usc/10/101.md?p=b-2) of a [reserve](/usc/10/101.md?p=c-6) [component](/usc/10/3011.md?p=13) of an armed force may be admitted to and trained in a unit of the [program](/usc/10/2101.md?p=1).
- (e) An educational institution at which a unit of the [program](/usc/10/2101.md?p=1) has been established shall give priority for enrollment in the [program](/usc/10/2101.md?p=1) to students who are eligible for [advanced training](/usc/10/2101.md?p=3) under [section 2104 of this title](/usc/10/2104.md).
