# §1748. Fulfillment standards for acquisition workforce training


The [Secretary](/usc/10/4951.md?p=3) of Defense, acting through the Under [Secretary](/usc/10/4951.md?p=3) of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment, shall develop fulfillment [standards](/usc/10/3011.md?p=3), and implement and maintain a [program](/usc/10/2101.md?p=1), for purposes of the [training](/usc/10/301.md?p=9) requirements of sections [1723](/usc/10/1723.md), [1724](/usc/10/1724.md), and [1735](/usc/10/1735.md) of this title. Such fulfillment [standards](/usc/10/3011.md?p=3) shall consist of criteria for determining whether an individual has demonstrated competence in the areas that would be taught in the [training](/usc/10/301.md?p=9) courses required under those sections. If an individual meets the appropriate fulfillment standard, the applicable [training](/usc/10/301.md?p=9) requirement is fulfilled.

Pub. L. 111–383, div. A, title VIII, § 874(b)(3), Jan. 7, 2011, 124 Stat. 4305, provided that: “The fulfillment standards required under section 1748 of title 10, United States Code, as added by paragraph (1), shall be developed not later than 270 days after the date of the enactment of this Act [Jan. 7, 2011].”
