# §14006. Determination of years in grade


For the purpose of chapters [1403](/usc/10/chstE/ptIII/ch1403.md) through [1411](/usc/10/chstE/ptIII/ch1411.md) of this title, an [officer](/usc/10/101.md?p=b-1)’s years of service in a [grade](/usc/10/101.md?p=b-7) are computed from the [officer](/usc/10/101.md?p=b-1)’s date of [rank](/usc/10/101.md?p=b-8) in [grade](/usc/10/101.md?p=b-7) as determined under [section 741(d) of this title](/usc/10/741.md?p=d).
