# §14004. Reserve active-status lists: eligibility for Reserve promotion


Except as otherwise provided by law, an [officer](/usc/10/101.md?p=b-1) must be on a [reserve active-status list](/usc/10/101.md?p=c-7) to be eligible under [chapter 1405](/usc/10/chstE/ptIII/ch1405.md) of this title for consideration for selection for promotion or for promotion.
