# §1092a. Persons entering the armed forces: baseline health data

- (a) **Program Required.—** The [Secretary](/usc/10/4951.md?p=3) of Defense shall carry out a [program](/usc/10/2101.md?p=1)—
  - (1) to collect baseline health data from each [person](/usc/10/2700.md?p=2) entering the [armed forces](/usc/10/101.md?p=a-4), at the time of entry into the [armed forces](/usc/10/101.md?p=a-4); and
  - (2) to provide for computerized compilation and maintenance of the baseline health data.
- (b) **Purposes.—** The [program](/usc/10/2101.md?p=1) under this section shall be designed to achieve the following purposes:
  - (1) To facilitate understanding of how subsequent exposures related to service in the [armed forces](/usc/10/101.md?p=a-4) affect health.
  - (2) To facilitate development of early intervention and prevention [programs](/usc/10/2101.md?p=1) to protect health and readiness.
