# §1046. Overseas temporary foster care program

- (a) **Program Authorized.—** The [Secretary concerned](/usc/10/2801.md?p=c-5) may establish a [program](/usc/10/2101.md?p=1) to provide temporary foster care services outside the [United States](/usc/10/101.md?p=a-1) for children accompanying members of the [armed forces](/usc/10/101.md?p=a-4) on duty at stations outside the [United States](/usc/10/101.md?p=a-1). The foster care services provided under such a [program](/usc/10/2101.md?p=1) shall be similar to those services provided by [State](/usc/10/4951.md?p=4) and [local governments](/usc/10/4951.md?p=4) in the [United States](/usc/10/101.md?p=a-1).
- (b) **Expenses.—** Under regulations prescribed by the [Secretary concerned](/usc/10/2801.md?p=c-5), the expenses related to providing foster care services under [subsection (a)](#a) may be paid from appropriated funds available to the [Secretary](/usc/10/4951.md?p=3).
