# §1043. Service credit: service in the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration or the Public Health Service


Active commissioned service in the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration or the Public Health Service shall be credited as active commissioned service in the [armed forces](/usc/10/101.md?p=a-4) for purposes of determining the retirement eligibility and computing the retired [pay](/usc/10/101.md?p=a-15) of a member of the [armed forces](/usc/10/101.md?p=a-4).
