# §10153. Standby Reserve: status of members


While in an inactive status, a [Reserve](/usc/10/101.md?p=c-6) is not eligible for [pay](/usc/10/101.md?p=a-15) or promotion and (as provided in [section 12734(a) of this title](/usc/10/12734.md?p=a)) does not accrue credit for years of service under [chapter 1223](/usc/10/chstE/ptII/ch1223.md) of this title.
