# §548.7. Use of new animal drugs.


Edible tissues of fish with residues exceeding tolerance levels specified in [21 CFR part 556](/cfr/21/part556.md) or established in an import tolerance under [21 U.S.C. 360b(a)(6)](/usc/21/360b.md?p=a-6) are adulterated within the meaning of [section 402(a)(2)(C)(ii)](/cfr/9/402.md?p=a-2-C-ii) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act because they bear or contain a new animal drug that is unsafe within the meaning of [section 512](/cfr/9/512.md) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act.
