# §917.28. Procedure for filling vacancies on committees.


To fill any vacancy on the Control Committee or on any of the commodity committees occasioned by the failure of any person selected as a member or as an alternate member to qualify, or in the event of the death, removal, resignation, or disqualification of any member or alternate member, a successor for the unexpired term of such member or alternate shall be nominated and selected in the manner specified in [§§ 917.17 through 917.19](/cfr/7/917.17..917.19.md) and [§§ 917.21 through 917.25](/cfr/7/917.21..917.25.md). If the names of nominees to fill any such vacancy are not made available to the Secretary within a reasonable time after such vacancy occurs, the Secretary may fill such vacancy without regard to nominations on the basis of representation provided for in §§ [917.16](/cfr/7/917.16.md) and [917.21](/cfr/7/917.21.md).
