# §3430.301. Purpose.


The purpose of this program is to make competitive grants for fundamental and applied research, extension, and education to address food and agricultural sciences, as defined under [section 1404](/cfr/7/1404.md) of the National Agricultural Research, Extension, and Teaching Policy Act of 1977 ([7 U.S.C. 3103](/usc/7/3103.md)).
