# §697.1. Purpose and scope.


The regulations in this part are issued under the authority of section 804(b) of the Atlantic Coastal Fisheries Cooperative Management Act, [16 U.S.C. 5101](/usc/16/5101.md) et seq., and section 6 of the Atlantic Striped Bass Conservation Act Appropriations Authorization, [16 U.S.C. 1851](/usc/16/1851.md) note, and govern fishing in the EEZ on the Atlantic Coast for species covered by those acts.
