# §550.1401. Purpose.


This subpart contains OPM regulations implementing [5 U.S.C. 5550b](/usc/5/5550b.md), which establishes a separate type of compensatory time off. Subject to the conditions specified in this subpart, an employee is entitled to earn, on an hour-for-hour basis, compensatory time off for time in a travel status away from the employee's official duty station when the travel time is not otherwise compensable.
