# §301.201. Appointments of United States citizens recruited overseas.


When there is a shortage of eligible applicants, as defined at [§ 337.202](/cfr/5/337.202.md) of this chapter, resulting from a competitive announcement that is open to applicants in the local overseas area, an agency may give an overseas limited appointment to a United States citizen recruited overseas for a position overseas.
