# §831.53. Authority of Director, Office of Marine Safety.


The Director, Office of Marine Safety, subject to the provisions of [§ 831.52](/cfr/49/831.52.md) of this part and [part 800](/cfr/49/part800.md) of this chapter, may order an investigation into any major marine casualty or marine casualty.
