# §588.2. Purpose.


The purpose of this part is to aid manufacturers in contacting the owners of child restraints during notification campaigns conducted in accordance with [49 CFR part 577](/cfr/49/part577.md), and to aid the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in determining whether a manufacturer has met its recall responsibilities.
