# §567.1. Purpose.


The purpose of this part is to specify the content and location of, and other requirements for, the certification label to be affixed to motor vehicles as required by the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act, as amended (the Vehicle Safety Act) (49 U.S.C. [30114](/usc/49/30114.md) and [30115](/usc/49/30115.md)) and the Motor Vehicle Information and Cost Savings Act, as amended (the Cost Savings Act) (49 U.S.C. [30254](/usc/49/30254.md) and [33109](/usc/49/33109.md)), to address certification-related duties and liabilities, and to provide the consumer with information to assist them in determining which of the Federal motor vehicle safety standards ([part 571](/cfr/49/part571.md) of this chapter), bumper standards ([part 581](/cfr/49/part581.md) of this chapter), and Federal theft prevention standards ([part 541](/cfr/49/part541.md) of this chapter), are applicable to the vehicle.
