# §173.174. Refrigerating machines.


A refrigerating machine assembled for shipment and containing 7 kg (15 pounds) or less of a flammable liquid for its operation in a strong, tight receptacle is excepted from labeling (except when offered for transportation or transported by air) and the specification packaging requirements of this subchapter. In addition. shipments are not subject to [subpart F of part 172](/cfr/49/part172-subpartF.md) of this subchapter (Placarding), to [part 174](/cfr/49/part174.md) of this subchapter (Carriage by rail) except [§ 174.24](/cfr/49/174.24.md) (Shipping papers) and to [part 177](/cfr/49/part177.md) (Carriage by highway) of this subchapter except [§ 177.817](/cfr/49/177.817.md) (Shipping papers).
