# §87.1. Purpose.


This section contains the statutory basis and provides the purpose for which this part is issued.

- (b) **Purpose.** Except as provided in [part 88](/cfr/47/part88.md) of this chapter, this part states the conditions under which radio stations may be licensed and used in the aviation services. These rules do not govern U.S. Government radio stations.
