# §8.410. Applicability.


This subpart applies to:

- (a) Recognized classification societies; and
- (b) U.S. flag vessels that are certificated for international voyages and are classed by a recognized classification society that is authorized by the Coast Guard to participate in the Alternate Compliance Program (ACP) as specified in this subpart and whose vessel type is authorized to participate in the ACP per the applicable subchapter of [46 CFR chapter](/cfr/46.md) I.
