# §78.16-1. General.


If port lights are fitted in spaces used alternatively for the carriage of cargo or passengers as permitted by [§ 171.116(d)](/cfr/46/171.116.md?p=d) of this chapter, dead covers must be fitted on the port lights when cargo is carried.
