# §4.05-30. Incidents involving hazardous materials.


When a casualty occurs involving hazardous materials, notification and a written report to the Department of Transportation may be required. See 49 CFR [171.15](/cfr/49/171.15.md) and [171.16](/cfr/49/171.16.md).
