# §25.30-1. Applicability.

- (a) This subpart applies to all vessels contracted for on or after August 22, 2016, except for recreational vessels as defined in [33 CFR 175.3](/cfr/33/175.3.md), which are governed by fire safety equipment requirements at [33 CFR part 175](/cfr/33/part175.md), subpart E.
- (b) All vessels contracted for before August 22, 2016, and after November 19, 1952, except recreational vessels as defined in [33 CFR 175.3](/cfr/33/175.3.md), must meet the requirements of [46 CFR 25.30-80](/cfr/46/25.30-80.md).
- (c) All vessels, contracted for before November 19, 1952, except recreational vessels as defined in [33 CFR 175.3](/cfr/33/175.3.md), must meet the requirements of [46 CFR 25.30-90](/cfr/46/25.30-90.md).
