# §184.115. Applicability to existing vessels.

- (a) An existing vessel need not comply with §§ [184.402(c)](/cfr/46/184.402.md?p=c), [184.404](/cfr/46/184.404.md), [184.410](/cfr/46/184.410.md), and [184.602](/cfr/46/184.602.md) unless the cognizant OCMI specifically requires compliance due to the route or service of the vessel.
- (b) An existing vessel need not comply with the requirements of [§ 184.610](/cfr/46/184.610.md) until March 11, 2001, or 10 years after its keel was laid or the vessel was at a similar stage of construction, whichever is later.
- (c) An existing vessel need not comply with the requirements of [§ 184.710](/cfr/46/184.710.md) until March 11, 1997.
