# §173.052. Civilian nautical school ships.


Each civilian nautical school ship must comply with [part 171](/cfr/46/part171.md) of this subchapter as though it were a passenger vessel. In addition to regular passengers, for the purpose of complying with [part 171](/cfr/46/part171.md), the following will also count as passengers;

- (a) **A student.**
- (b) **A cadet.**
- (c) **An instructor who is not also a member of the crew.**
