# §160.045-3. Definitions.


The following definitions apply to this subpart:

First quality workmanship means construction that is free from any defect materially affecting appearance or serviceability.

Recognized laboratory means an independent laboratory accepted by the Commandant in accordance with [subpart 159.010](/cfr/46/subpart159.010.md) of this subchapter, with a valid memorandum of understanding in accordance with [§ 159.010-7](/cfr/46/159.010-7.md) of this subchapter.
