# §96.73. Sterilization.


If a State authorizes sterilization as a family planning service, it must comply with the provisions of [42 CFR part 441](/cfr/42/part441.md), [subpart F](/cfr/45/subpartF.md), except that the State plan requirement under [42 CFR 441.252](/cfr/42/441.252.md) does not apply.
