# §86.1362. Steady-state testing with a ramped-modal cycle.

- (a) **This section describes how to test engines under steady-state conditions.** Perform ramped-modal testing as described in 40 CFR [1036.505](/cfr/40/1036.505.md) and [40](/cfr/40/40.md) CFR [part 1065](/cfr/40/part1065.md), except as specified in this section.
- (b) Measure emissions by testing the engine on a dynamometer with the following ramped-modal duty cycle to determine whether it meets the applicable steady-state emission standards in this part and [40 CFR part 1036](/cfr/40/part1036.md):
