# §751.111. Downstream notification.

- (a) After August 26, 2019, and before October 7, 2024, each person who manufactures (including imports), and before December 4, 2024 processes or distributes in commerce methylene chloride for any use must, prior to or concurrent with the shipment, notify companies to whom methylene chloride is shipped, in writing, of the restrictions described in [§ 751.105](/cfr/40/751.105.md). Notification must occur by inserting the following text in [section 1(c)](/cfr/40/1.md?p=c) and [section 15](/cfr/40/15.md) of the SDS provided with the methylene chloride or with any methylene chloride-containing product:
- (b) Beginning on October 7, 2024, each person who manufactures (including import) methylene chloride for any use must, prior to or concurrent with the shipment, notify companies to whom methylene chloride is shipped, in writing, of the restrictions described in this subpart in accordance with [paragraph (d)](#d) of this section.
- (c) Beginning on December 4, 2024, each person who processes or distributes in commerce methylene chloride or methylene chloride-containing products for any use must, prior to or concurrent with the shipment, notify companies to whom methylene chloride is shipped, in writing, of the restrictions described in this subpart in accordance with [paragraph (d)](#d) of this section.
- (d) The notification required under paragraphs [(b)](#b) and [(c)](#c) of this section must occur by inserting the following text in [section 1(c)](/cfr/40/1.md?p=c) and [section 15](/cfr/40/15.md) of the SDS provided with the methylene chloride or with any methylene chloride-containing product:
