# §63.7907. What are my inspection and monitoring requirements for surface impoundments?

- (a) If you use a floating membrane cover according to [§ 63.7905(b)(1)](/cfr/40/63.7905.md?p=b-1), you must visually inspect the floating membrane cover and its closure devices at least annually according to the requirements in [§ 63.946(a)](/cfr/40/63.946.md?p=a).
- (b) If you use a cover vented to a control device according to [§ 63.7905(b)(2)](/cfr/40/63.7905.md?p=b-2), you must meet requirements in paragraphs [(b)(1)](#b-1) and [(2)](#b-2) of this section.
  - (1) You must visually inspect the cover and its closure devices for defects according to the requirements in [§ 63.946(b)](/cfr/40/63.946.md?p=b).
  - (2) You must monitor and inspect the closed vent system and control device according to the requirements in [§ 63.7927](/cfr/40/63.7927.md) that apply to you.
