# §63.1569. What are my requirements for HAP emissions from bypass lines?

- (a) **What work practice standards must I meet?**
  - (1) You must meet each work practice standard in Table 36 of this subpart that applies to you. You can choose from the four options in [paragraphs (a)(1)(i) through (iv)](#a-1-i..a-1-iv) of this section:
    - (i) You can elect to install an automated system (Option 1);
    - (ii) You can elect to use a manual lock system (Option 2);
    - (iii) You can elect to seal the line (Option 3); or
    - (iv) **You can elect to vent to a control device (Option 4).**
  - (2) As provided in [§ 63.6(g)](/cfr/40/63.6.md?p=g), we, the EPA, may choose to grant you permission to use an alternative to the work practice standard in [paragraph (a)(1)](#a-1) of this section.
  - (3) You must prepare an operation, maintenance, and monitoring plan according to the requirements in [§ 63.1574(f)](/cfr/40/63.1574.md?p=f) and operate at all times according to the procedures in the plan.
- (b) **How do I demonstrate initial compliance with the work practice standards?** You must:
  - (1) If you elect the option in [paragraph (a)(1)(i)](#a-1-i) of this section, conduct each performance test for a bypass line according to the requirements in [§ 63.1571](/cfr/40/63.1571.md) and under the conditions specified in Table 37 of this subpart.
  - (2) Demonstrate initial compliance with each work practice standard in Table 36 of this subpart that applies to you according to Table 38 of this subpart.
  - (3) Demonstrate initial compliance with the work practice standard in [paragraph (a)(3)](#a-3) of this section by submitting the operation, maintenance, and monitoring plan to your permitting authority as part of your notification of compliance status.
  - (4) Submit the notification of compliance status containing the results of the initial compliance demonstration according to the requirements in [§ 63.1574](/cfr/40/63.1574.md).
- (c) **How do I demonstrate continuous compliance with the work practice standards?** You must:
  - (1) Demonstrate continuous compliance with each work practice standard in Table 36 of this subpart that applies to you according to the requirements in Table 39 of this subpart.
  - (2) Demonstrate continuous compliance with the work practice standard in [paragraph (a)(3)](#a-3) of this section by complying with the procedures in your operation, maintenance, and monitoring plan.
