# §61.242-9. Standards: Surge control vessels and bottoms receivers.


Each surge control vessel or bottoms receiver that is not routed back to the process and that meets the conditions specified in table 1 or table 2 of this subpart shall be equipped with a closed-vent system capable of capturing and transporting any leakage from the vessel back to the process or to a control device as described in [§ 61.242-11](/cfr/40/61.242-11.md), except as provided in [§ 61.242-1(c)](/cfr/40/61.242-1.md?p=c); or comply with the requirements of 40 CFR [63.119(b)](/cfr/40/63.119.md?p=b) or [(c)](/cfr/40/63.119.md?p=c).
