# §60.5945. What is required for my continuous opacity monitoring system and how are the data used?

- (a) **Install, calibrate, maintain, and operate a continuous opacity monitoring system.**
- (b) Install, evaluate, and operate each continuous opacity monitoring system according to [§ 60.13](/cfr/40/60.13.md).
- (c) The output of the continuous opacity monitoring system shall be recorded on a 6-minute average basis.
- (d) Complete an initial evaluation of your continuous opacity monitoring system according to Performance Specification 1 in appendix B of this part. Complete the evaluation no later than 180 days after the date of the initial startup of the municipal waste combustor, as specified under [§ 60.8](/cfr/40/60.8.md).
- (e) Follow Table 4 to [Subpart VVVV](/cfr/40/subpartVVVV.md) to establish the procedures and test methods to determine compliance with the opacity limit in Table 2 to Subpart VVVV. The data obtained from your continuous opacity monitoring system are not used to determine compliance with the opacity limit.
