# §52.153. Control strategy and regulations: Ozone.

- (a) **Determination of attainment by the attainment date.** Effective December 12, 2019 the EPA has determined that the Phoenix-Mesa Moderate nonattainment area in Arizona attained the 2008 8-hour ozone National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) by the applicable attainment date of July 20, 2018, based upon complete, quality-assured, and certified data for the calendar years 2015-2017. The EPA has also determined that the requirement of [section 172(c)(9)](/cfr/40/172.md?p=c-9) to provide for contingency measures to be implemented in the event the area fails to attain by its attainment date for the 2008 8-hour NAAQS does not apply to the area.
- (b) **Determination of attainment by the attainment date.** Effective November 7, 2022 the EPA has determined that the Yuma County Marginal nonattainment area in Arizona attained the 2015 8-hour ozone National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) by the applicable attainment date of August 3, 2021, based upon complete quality-assured and certified data for the calendar years 2018-2020.
