# §51.1113. Section 182(f) NO X exemption provisions.

- (a) A person or a state may petition the Administrator for an exemption from NOX obligations under CAA [section 182(f)](/cfr/40/182.md?p=f) for any area designated nonattainment for the 2008 ozone NAAQS and for any area in a CAA [section 184](/cfr/40/184.md) ozone transport region.
- (b) The petition must contain adequate documentation that the criteria in CAA [section 182(f)](/cfr/40/182.md?p=f) are met.
- (c) A CAA [section 182(f)](/cfr/40/182.md?p=f) NOX exemption granted for the 1-hour or 1997 ozone NAAQS does not relieve the area from any NOX obligations under CAA [section 182(f)](/cfr/40/182.md?p=f) for the 2008 ozone NAAQS.
