# §420.95. Pretreatment standards for existing sources (PSES).


Except as provided in 40 CFR [403.7](/cfr/40/403.7.md) and [403.13](/cfr/40/403.13.md), any existing source subject to this subpart which introduces pollutants into a publicly owned treatment works must comply with [40 CFR part 403](/cfr/40/part403.md) and achieve the following pretreatment standards for existing sources.

- (a) **Sulfuric acid (spent acid solutions and rinse waters)—**
  - (1) **Rod, wire, and coil.**
  - (2) **Bar, billet, and bloom.**
  - (3) **Strip, sheet, and plate.**
  - (4) **Pipe, tube, and other products.**
  - (5) **Fume scrubber.**
- (b) **Hydrochloric acid pickling (spent acid solutions and rinse waters)—**
  - (1) **Rod, wire, and coil.**
  - (2) **Strip, sheet, and plate.**
  - (3) **Pipe, tube, and other products.**
  - (4) **Fume scrubber.**
  - (5) **Acid regeneration (absorber vent scrubber).**
- (c) **Combination acid pickling (spent acid solutions and rinse waters)—**
  - (1) **Rod, wire, and coil.**
  - (2) **Bar, billet, and bloom.**
  - (3) **Strip, sheet, and plate—continuous.**
  - (4) **Strip, sheet, and plate—batch.**
  - (5) **Pipe, tube, and other products.**
  - (6) **Fume scrubber.**
