# §273.8. Applicability—household and very small quantity generator waste.

- (a) Persons managing the wastes listed below may, at their option, manage them under the requirements of this part:
  - (1) Household wastes that are exempt under [§ 261.4(b)(1)](/cfr/40/261.4.md?p=b-1) of this chapter and are also of the same type as the universal wastes defined at [§ 273.9](/cfr/40/273.9.md); and/or
  - (2) Very small quantity generator wastes that are exempt under [§ 262.14](/cfr/40/262.14.md) of this chapter and are also of the same type as the universal wastes defined at [§ 273.9](/cfr/40/273.9.md).
- (b) Persons who commingle the wastes described in paragraphs [(a)(1)](#a-1) and [(a)(2)](#a-2) of this section together with universal waste regulated under this part must manage the commingled waste under the requirements of this part.
