# §180.242. Thiabendazole; tolerances for residues.

- (a) **General.**
  - (1) Tolerances are established for residues of thiabendazole, including its metabolites and degradates, in or on the commodities in table 1 to [paragraph (a)(1)](#a-1). Compliance with the tolerance levels specified to table 1 to [paragraph (a)(1)](#a-1) is to be determined by measuring only thiabendazole in or on the commodity.
  - (2) Tolerances are established for residues of thiabendazole, including its metabolites and degradates, in or on the commodities in table 2 to [paragraph (a)(2)](#a-2). Compliance with the tolerance levels specified to table 2 to [paragraph (a)(2)](#a-2) is to be determined by measuring only the sum of thiabendazole (2-(4-thiazolyl)benzimidazole) and its metabolite 5-hydroxythiabendazole (free and conjugated) calculated as the stoichiometric equivalent of thiabendazole, in or on the commodity.
- (b) **Section 18 emergency exemptions.** Time-limited tolerances specified in table 3 to this [paragraph (b)](#b) are established for residues of the thiabendazole, including its metabolites and degradates, in or on the specified agricultural commodities, resulting from use of the pesticide pursuant to FIFRA [section 18](/cfr/40/18.md) emergency exemptions. Compliance with the tolerance levels specified in table 3 to this [paragraph (b)](#b) is to be determined by measuring only the sum of thiabendazole (2-(4-thiazolyl)benzimidazole) and its metabolite benzimidazole (free and conjugated), calculated as the stoichiometric equivalent of thiabendazole. The tolerances expire on the date specified in table 3 to this [paragraph (b)](#b).
- (c) **Tolerances with regional exemptions.** [Reserved]
