# §139.17. Elevator pits.

- (a) The requirements in [paragraph (b)](#b) of this section apply to the liquid that accumulates in, and is discharged from, the sumps of elevator wells.
- (b) **The discharge of untreated accumulated water and sediment from any elevator pit is prohibited.**
